Moving van trailers, primarily used by the moving service industry to transport bulky and relatively light cargo, are specialized dry-freight van trailers which maximize interior space with a lowered floor in the area between the trailer hitch and the rear of the trailer.
The moving services industry in the United States includes about 8,000 companies with combined annual revenue of about $12 billion. Companies in this industry move household, institutional and commercial goods, as well as specialty items such as pianos, trade show exhibits and art displays, both locally and interstate. Moving van trailers are also purchased by parcel delivery companies such as FedEx and UPS, and by snack-food manufacturing companies such as Frito‑Lay.
